Wednesday afternoon FCD CSO Andre Zanotta and Head Coach Eric Quill held a press conference regarding the signing of 2023 MLS MVP Lucho Acosta. With an off-season full of heartache for fans that saw the likes of Velasco, Ferreira, and Arriola leave the club, to get a perennial talent, such as a coaster is a huge boost for FC Dallas and their fans hope to be a contender after placing an 11th last season.

After last year‘s end of season press conference, we knew that FCD was looking to take a big step in their development of players and getting them on the pitch and able to contribute to a championship team but I don’t think anyone expected the offseason to be what it was for the club.

Now with a perennial number 10 acquired to man the helm of this club, things could get really interesting this season. Now that Acosta will be in the middle of everything, we can be almost certain that he will open up plenty more chances and opportunities for Dallas to score more and more this season as he was in the upper echelon of creating chances this past season and ever since he rejoined MLS in 2021.

Quill praised his ability to see the game 2-3 steps ahead of everyone else, providing efficiency and the ability to not only create shots for himself, but also for others around him. He stated how he’s like an “Argentinian Fine Wine” and how he just continues to get better as he ages.

One final thing to note is that during the scrum of media, President Dan Hunt mentioned how they were not done yet signing players and adding to this roster, he noted how they still have a good amount of money to spend, and they are currently looking to bring in some more starting caliber players and they could be very well announced within the next few days.

With just nine days left till kick off, FC Dallas is showing they are nowhere near done and plan on hopefully contending for a championship this year and many years to come after with them bringing in the likes of Acosta and continuing their plans on developing young talent so FC Dallas can be a perennial MLS team and destination for years to come as the sport continues to grow and grow.
